When the standard system doesn't fit
What it is
Not every wall fits a standard system. Architectural specifications call for particular finishes, heritage work has constraints, mixed substrates need reconciling, and some walls arrive with a history of failure that has to be engineered out before anything decorative goes near them.
This is where we work directly with you, your builder or your architect to develop a system for the specific wall — the right substrate preparation, the right products for the exposure, and a finish sample approved before we start on the building itself.
Why it's worth it
We work from architectural documentation and advise on buildability before anything is committed to.
Finishes are prepared as sample panels and signed off before we start on the building.
Brick meeting AAC meeting fibre cement in one elevation, detailed so it doesn't crack along the junctions.
Walls with a history of failure get a system designed around the actual cause, not the default spec.
Banding, reveals, recesses, feature panels and profile work executed to drawing.
Matching an existing finish on a neighbouring wall, a heritage colour or a specified brand system.
Our process
We meet on site, go through the drawings or the brief, and identify the constraints that will actually drive the solution.
We specify substrate preparation, products, reinforcement and joint set-out for the particular conditions, in writing.
Sample panels are prepared in the proposed finish and colour, viewed in situ, and adjusted until you sign them off.
The approved system is applied with the sample as the reference standard, and we walk the finished work with you.
Who it's for
Good to know
In most cases yes. We prepare sample panels against the existing wall and adjust aggregate, application technique and colour until it reads as the same surface. Very old or unusual finishes take more attempts, and we'll be upfront about how close we expect to get.
